School of Education
Hello! My name is Ajla Ahmetovic. My family is from Bosnia and Herzegovina and I was born in Heerlen, Netherlands. I came to the US when I was nearly a year old, so this is home. Being in the US since I was only 9 months old, I have been exposed to the education system and society expectations of the people in the US. From all of my personal experiences and education at SLU, I hope to be a teacher that truly touches the heart of all my students, regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, ability, or identity.
Every since I was a young girl I imagined how my classroom would look like, how I would teach, who I would teach, and what being a teacher would be like. I left my childhood dreams to chase my love for children in nursing, but I quickly found out that I was meant to be in education all along. Now I find myself in the halls of the School of Education at Saint Louis University.
Currently a Senior at Saint Louis University, I hope to complete my Bachelors in Education with a certification in Elementary Education. In the future I would love to become certified in Early Childhood Education and become certified to teach English Language Learners.
