"The most important function of education at any level is to develop the personality of the individual and the significance of his life to himself and to others. This is the basic architecture of a life; the rest is ornamentation and decoration of the structure."

Theorists and Theories I align with

Abraham Maslow

Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs is the foundation of my teaching. I truly believe that students need to have their basic needs met in order for them to open their minds to the experiences that school, academics, and education bring. Students will develop a love for learning once psychological needs, safety needs, and the feeling of love is met.

JEAN PIAGET

CONSTRUCTIVISM: CHILDREN LEARN BY DOING AND NOT BY BEING TOLD. AS EDUCATORS WE SHOULD CREATE A CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT WHERE WE ALLOW CHILDREN TO WONDER, TO ASK QUESTIONS, AND TO BRING IN THEIR OWN QUESTIONS ABOUT THE WORLD AND EDUCATION. THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR ALL STUDENTS TO EXPERIENCE REGARDLESS OF AGE.

JIM FAY & FOSTER W. CLINE

LOVE & LOGIC: I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT IN ORDER FOR STUDENTS TO REACH THEIR BEST ACADEMIC SELF, THEY NEED TO FEEL SAFE, LOVED, AND RESPECTED. WHEN ALL CHILDREN FEEL RESPECTED AND REPRESENTED IN THE CLASSROOM, ONLY THEN WILL THEY BE READY TO MEET ACADEMIC GOALS. THIS WILL ALSO TEACH CHILDREN THE LIFELONG LESSON OF LOVING AND RESPECTING ONE ANOTHER REGARDLESS OF DIFFERENCES.
